“The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him.” – Nahum 1:7

There are moments in life that shake us—unexpected loss, broken relationships, unanswered prayers, or seasons of deep disappointment. In those moments, the question often comes: “Where is God in this?" “If He’s good… why am I going through this?”

It’s okay to wrestle with questions. God can handle your doubts, your tears, and your pain. But here’s a truth that never changes—even when everything else does: God is still good.

His goodness isn’t based on your circumstances. His love isn’t proven only in your victories. He is good because it is His nature—and His nature doesn’t change.

Let’s look at five powerful reminders of God’s goodness, especially when life feels anything but good.

1. God’s Goodness Is Not Dependent on Your Circumstances

Sometimes life hurts. But pain is not proof that God has left you. In fact, the Bible reminds us that He is close to the brokenhearted—especially when things fall apart.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18

Even in suffering, God is working. His goodness is steady—even when your emotions aren’t.

How to Cling to His Goodness in Pain:

✅ Say out loud: “God, You are still good—even when I don’t understand.”

✅ Look for small glimpses of grace each day.

✅ Remember: What you’re going through isn’t the end of your story.

God’s goodness doesn’t stop just because life gets hard.

2. God’s Character Is Constant

God doesn’t change with your situation. He’s not unpredictable. He’s not moody. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” – Psalm 107:1

His goodness is woven through every page of Scripture—from Genesis to Revelation. And it’s woven through your life, too.

How to Stay Anchored in God’s Character:

✅ Study verses about God’s love, faithfulness, and mercy.

✅ Keep a journal of “God moments” in your life.

✅ When you feel shaken, remind yourself who God has always been.

If He was good before, He’ll be good again.

3. God Redeems What the Enemy Tries to Ruin

God doesn’t cause evil—but He can bring beauty out of brokenness. The enemy wants you to give up in the middle of the pain, but God wants to rewrite the ending with hope and restoration.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him...” – Romans 8:28

The “good” may not look like what you imagined—but it will always be for your growth, healing, and future.

How to Trust God’s Redemption Plan:

✅ Don’t interpret God’s heart by your hardship.

✅ Ask Him to show you the lessons and strength rising from the pain.

✅ Speak life over your story—it’s not over.

Your pain will have purpose in the hands of a good God.

4. God’s Presence Is Your Safe Place

You may not always get the answers, but you always have access to His presence. And in His presence, there is peace, healing, and strength for the journey.

“You make known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence...” – Psalm 16:11

When everything feels unstable, run to the Rock that never moves.

How to Experience His Presence in the Storm:

✅ Turn on worship and let it quiet your soul.

✅ Take deep breaths and pray: “God, I need You here with me.”

✅ Sit in silence and let Him comfort you.

His presence doesn’t remove the storm, but it will carry you through it.

5. God Will Finish What He Started

This chapter is not the whole story. What feels like the end might actually be the beginning of something new. God is still writing.

“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion...” – Philippians 1:6

You may not see it yet—but there is restoration, breakthrough, and joy ahead.

How to Hold On to Hope:

✅ Keep going—even if it’s just one step at a time.

✅ Surround yourself with truth and encouragement.

✅ Speak this over yourself: “God is not done with me.”

There’s a reason to hope—because God is still at work.

Final Encouragement: His Goodness Will Never Run Out

✔ God is still good when life is unfair.

✔ God is still good when prayers feel unanswered.

✔ God is still good when the healing hasn’t come yet.

✔ God is still good when you feel broken.

“Surely Your goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life...” – Psalm 23:6

Even when it’s hard, even when it hurts—He is still good. And He is still God. So don’t give up. Don’t let the darkness define your days. Lean into His love, hold on to hope, and trust the Author of your story. Because the best is still ahead. 🙏✨
